The Social Story of #RotterdamGF Age Group World Champs

After days of rain and cold weather, the final day of Grand Final week saw sunshine and blue skies for the Group World Championships. Athletes from all over the globe traveled to Holland to compete in the standard and sprint distance triathlons, let's take a look back on some of the action!

  1. The sun decided to hide out until the age groupers toed the line, making the last and final day of #RotterdamGF an amazing one.

  2. Over the course of the previous two days, racing had been all about juniors, u23, elites and paratriathlon. But on Sunday, it was all age group... the athletes that are the backbone of triathlon, athletes like YOU! Were we ready to rock that day? You better belive it!

  3. Just under 4000 people competed in the age group world champs. 2000 battled it out on the standard distance course, while 1600 stuck to the shorter sprint course.

  4. Did you know that 78 nations competed in #RotterdamGF (if you include those racing under the ITU flag)? With GBR, USA, NED and Mexico having the largest teams represented at the event.

  5. Come race day, athletes started grouping up and getting ready to BRING THE HEAT in their age categories!

  6. People in Rotterdam were so supportive of the races! Fans were lined up to cheer on their favourite racers! If you race in #RotterdamGF and had friends and family there, make sure you give them a big hug and say THANK YOU!

  7. Racing doesn't have to be all serious... racing is fun! And boy were we having some while waiting to step onto the pontoon before the races began.
  8. A little AC/DC or YMCA? What better prerace warm-up do you need than that??
