‘Press Play: Making the best of your online sound recordings’

Ian Rawes of the London Sound Survey gave practical information to making sound archives useful, usable, and desirable on the web. His tips ranged from how to get the sound out there (Soundcloud is the standard now, but make sure you have other backups!) to making the information interesting.

  1. He uses a lot of image maps (something back from the old days of HTML!) as a means of making data meaningful.
  2. Of course, Sounds of London isn't the only one around. Raws himself was involved in the large British Library Sounds collection, and also recommended other sites that deal with sound well.
