I'm archiving my notes and thoughts about Alison Hearn's article from 2008: "'Meat, Mask, Burden': Probing the Contours of the Branded 'Self'."


  1. Oops. The article was actually written in 2008. 
  2. Well, Foucault's notion of the self produced through discourses is assumed in the article. I don't recall her spending any more time on Foucault in the essay. Why not? Is it just assumed that her audience will understand what she means?
  3. Note: I didn't intend on embedding the entire page in a tweet. I was trying to copy the quotation and paste it in the tweet. Instead, it managed to copy the entire page. That could be a cool trick to use in the future...
