2017 Members' Day: Bringing 'U' to the UN

On Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, a record number of UNA-USA members gathered in the General Assembly Hall at UN Headquarters to discuss and learn more about the U.S.-UN partnership and what YOU can do to keep it strong. Please enjoy the following highlights from 2017 Members' Day at the UN.


  1. A record number of UNA-USA members met in the General Assembly Hall for the largest-ever gathering of Americans in support of the UN at the UN.
  2. UNA-USA Executive Director Chris Whatley helped kick-off Members’ Day with inspiring opening remarks.

  4. Throughout the day, panelists shared their insights on the Sustainable Development Goals, the refugee crisis, the role of the UN in conflict prevention, engaging youth in the UN, and more.
  5. The panel discussion “Displaced Humanity,” which focused on the 65.3 million people forcibly displaced worldwide, brought attendees to tears and their feet for a standing ovation. Here’s how you can stand #WithRefugees.

  7. Members advocated to U.S. leaders, including Members of Congress and U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, in support of refugees, full funding for the United Nations, and strong U.S.-UN relations.
