  5. And then on Monday the Westboro Baptist Church put out the call for members to protest the service, because, the leader says, these deaths are God's punishment to America for tolerating homosexuality.

No one seems to be alleging Pfc. Davis was gay. Funerals targeted by this group are selected regardless of the soldier's sexual orientation.

  6. Here is today's story in the Redlands Daily Facts:

  7. Some people say the group should not be indulged with attention.

  8. You write this story and they win
  9. If you do protest the protesters, it is best to not have any interaction with them whatsoever. They strive for attention, that's what keeps them going.
  10. Some are offended that the group is making these threats in the name of Christianity.

  11. And don't think for a second these people have anything to do with Christianity - they are a hate group plain and simple
  12. Some don't believe the protesters will show up

  13. They threaten this a lot but do not show up very often - they like the controversy and press coverage. They threatened the Crafton Hills production of The Laramie Project, and then did not show. They are despicable. It is mostly one big family.
  14. Many mention the probability that the Patriot Guard will attend.

  15. I heard on the radio this morning that the Patriot Guard is coming to the funeral. They line up holding huge American flags that block the view of the WBC protesters so the grieving family isn't disturbed by their presence. That oughta help!
  16. As the news spread, people in the Inland Empire put out the call for a counter action.
