First morning kicks off

Convention activities have begun. So far today: delegate breakfasts, a Politico Playbook breakfast and the Women's Caucus. More caucuses and councils to come today.

  1. As expected, there were many transportation issues as people made their way uptown this morning.
  2. But some people lucked out...
  3. Traffic issues are expected to continue today and throughout the week as roads around uptown are closed.
  4. The Women's Caucus got started just after 10 a.m. despite traffic concerns. As one Twitter user tweeted, the event was "star-studded."
  5. Speakers included Representative Nancy Pelosi, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, Senator Amy Klobuchar and CNN political contributor Donna Brazile. Each speaker attempted and succeeded in exciting and inspiring the audience. "Four more years" chants occurred prior to and throughout the program.

"We must unleash the power of women," repeated Pelosi. "Suit up, square your shoulders, put your lipstick on, and get ready for a revolution," said Klobuchar.
