Ballard to Belfair

Another tri-county ride, though the third county was much more remote.

  2. There was a threat of showers today, but I didn't see anything other than a few drops every now and then.
  3. It was red light after red light when going along 1st, which is unfortunately pretty normal.  It doesn't help when there is pretty much zero cross-traffic at this hour on the weekend.
  4. Unlike last time, I knew exactly where to park while waiting for the ferry.

  6. I got that front rack installed yesterday, by the way.  It took a while to figure out how to keep the top support from blocking the light, but the setup shown seems to work pretty well.

  8. I actually made a mistake while riding along SR-305: I was supposed to drop down to the road along the shore earlier, but it was pretty easy to get to it after.
  9. On my last ride, I missed old downtown Poulsbo and ended up going through the suburban sprawl strip mall area instead.  I didn't make the same mistake this time.

  12. However, I didn't 'miss out' on suburban sprawl when passing through Silverdale after a major hill climb around Bremerton.  Interestingly, unlike the sprawling shopping centers on the eastern side of Puget Sound, these had wide shoulders rather than sidewalks, which shows how little pedestrian traffic is valued out here.
  13. Even so, I had a pretty easy time riding through here despite the wind gusts tossing me around a bit after said hill.
  14. Though, I started dealing with a lot of dust getting blown into my eyes, as the winds were from the south.
  15. When planning this ride, I didn't know that I would end up going into Mason County, which is where Belfair is located.
  16. The winds only got worse down here and didn't let up even on the last leg of my ride, though I wouldn't be doing much southbound riding after this so they were more often tailwinds than anything later on.
