  1. See the album for more geotagged photos.
  2. I started off at 05:00 this morning.  As an experiment, I had ice cream before bed last night to see what would happen if I were to have a higher blood sugar level in the beginning compared to most of my rides.

  8. Apparently the blood sugar experiment did as I had expected: I was going faster, but I was also hitting the headache I get when I overexercise too much.  In order to counteract it, I got some caffeine, as caffeine is the easiest way to cure said headache.
  9. (I was getting the headaches before I started drinking coffee on these rides, so it's not related.)
  10. In retrospect, it was a bad idea to get the coffee this early into the ride, as I pushed too hard going over the slogs of SR-104 and this would cause issues later on.
  11. When I got to the US-101/SR-104 interchange, I found a couple headed for Potlatch.  They were riding Surly Disc Truckers and were resting beneath the overpass on US-101.  They were also carrying a lot more than me.
  12. Along US-101, I snapped some photos of farms I was kicking myself for missing on my last ride through the area.
