#TCamp16: Busting out of the Beltway

Every year, journalists, technologists, policymakers, academics and curious citizens converge to think about the present and future of open data and open government. This year we mixed it up, heading to Cleveland, Ohio, for a locally themed unconference. Follow the journey below!

  1. For two bright, beautiful days in October, the open government world converged in Cleveland to discuss how to improve technologies, enhance transparency and exponentially increase citizen engagement with government. And people were excited!
  2. And, of course, longtime attendee (and unofficial mascot) Wallace was there to greet campers new and old to TCamp16!
  3. I took a selfie with Wallace! Follow my lead and share your pic with #TCAMP16

  4. It's finally here: TCamp16!

  5. We hosted this year's TCamp at the Cleveland Public Library's gorgeous new Louis Stokes Wing, and it provided the perfect setting for the collaborative, positive atmosphere we were looking for. (CPL's Anastasia Diamond-Ortiz wrote more about why the library was a good fit for TCamp here!)
  6. Sunlight's own Kat Duffy got things kicked off with an energetic intro, speaking to Cleveland's blossoming civic tech and opengov community. Cleveland Public Library Director Felton Thomas also welcomed attendees -- somehow donning an Indians, Browns AND Cavs hat during his remarks. Now that's representing your city!
