  2. Hope Beneath Our Feet with Martin Keogh

    An anthology of essays that aims to answer one important question: “If we are facing imminent environmental catastrophe, how do I live my life right now? Over fifty stories, meditations, and essays in Hope Beneath Our Feet provide direction on howto approach the future from people who have dusted the path themselves, from Bioneers founder Nina Simons to 7th Generation eco-friendly products founder and CEO Jeffrey Hollender. This book presents diverse strategies from a variety of sources ranging from artists to policy makers, and spiritual leaders to scientists, for change as well as grounds for hope, and inspiration to celebrate the ways in which we can all engage in beneficial action for ourselves, our communities, and the world. Martin Keogh is the author of As Much Time as it Takes: A Guide for the Bereaved, Their Family and Friends.

  4. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

    June 15th, 2016 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD).

    WEAAD, in BC is promoted by BC Community Response Networks to bring attention to the serious issue of elder abuse. Presenter Dr. Elizabeth Dow will speak from her many years in the field of Gerontology and Social Work.

    The WEAAD workshop on Salt Spring is co-sponsored by SSICS Seniors Wellness, SSI Public Library, Island Women Against Violence, Salt Spring Island Seniors Centre and the Community Ministerial Committee. Country Grocers is generously donating refreshments and food for the event.

    Summer Library Camp
    July 11-15. Programs will run each day; ages 5-7 from 10:30 –12:00 and ages 8-12 from 2:00- 4:00, including a small snack time.
