  1. On Saturday, January 25, 2014, SABR members and friends gathered at more than 30 Hot Stove events around the U.S. and Canada to talk baseball, share their research and discuss the upcoming season on the fifth annual SABR Day.
  2. All baseball fans are welcome to attend SABR meetings, and we were excited to see a lot of new faces — and old jerseys — on SABR Day.
  3. Guest speakers at SABR events often include current and former baseball players, managers, umpires, executives, scouts, writers and authors. And we had some great ones for SABR Day 2014:

  5. Sometimes the surroundings at SABR Day events are just as much fun to take in as the speakers. Here's a "vintage" 1860s baseball passed around at SABR Day in Knoxville:
  6. And a real vintage photograph of the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings, baseball's first all-professional team:
  7. A beautiful mural from SABR Day in Victoria, British Columbia:
  8. And some delicious food in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where SABR's Chicago and Milwaukee held a dual SABR Day meeting:
  9. At SABR Day in Arizona, minor league executive John Dittrich brought in caps from all the teams he's worked for in his 40-year career:
  10. But mostly, SABR Day is a chance to meet new baseball friends and re-connect with old ones:
