The Life Cycle of a Third Wheel

  1. So your best friend has just been asked out by that cute guy in her chem class she told you about. ie That guy you've collectively stalked on Facebook the last 5 times you've hungout. Needless to say you're pretty excited for her.
  2. In the beginning, you assume your role as third wheel because, well, what else are you going to do?
  3. Quickly though, as if almost over night, you realize you've been replaced and your mindset begins to change.
  4. Your bestie assumes you'll understand why she keeps bailing on you...but really...you feel like you've become the Fez of your friend group.
  5. That 70's Show Fez- You Have A Girlfriend, You Have A Ring, I Have NOTHING!
  6. You see that she's happy though, so you don't complain when the only thing she talks to you about is her boyfriend. (Even though you don't really care that his favourite colour is blue, or that he does this cute thing with his eyebrows when he is trying to focus)
  7. At a certain point though, enough is enough and scenes from Wanted start dancing through your head like visions of sugar plums on Christmas Eve.
  8. You have mixed feelings about confronting her...
  9. ...but finally you say to yourself: "we're both mature, I'm sure we can talk about this calmly."
  10. *disclaimer* The above is just the ideal situation. It frequently turns out more like this.
  11. Hopefully though, somewhere in the cat fight (pun intended), is a compromise and you can put the past behind you.
  12. Because true friends are one in a million.
  13. This is basically me & @vannahhh8 friendship. Except we don't fight like Blair & Serena, thank God she's my best friend & no one could ever replace her. I love you, S!

  14. I mean, The Beatles are never wrong...right?
