The Giver- Reflection....DLDay

Students used Twitter on Digital Learning Day to post reflections about Chapter 3 from the novel, The Giver. Additionally, students tracked their results from a class Mentimeter Poll through Twitter.

  1. During class, students learned how to utilize TweetDeck in order to track, collaborate, and communicate via Twitter with newly learned hashtags.
  2. LJH PROMOTED DIGITAL LEARNING DAY THROUGH A TWITTER CHAT CONTEST.  STUDENTS WAITED ANXIOUSLY ALL DAY FOR THE MYSTERY TWEET.  AT 1:00 STUDENTS WERE TWEETED THE QUESTION- "WHO INVENTED "TWITTER AND IN WHAT YEAR?"  STUDENTS THAT VIEWED THE TWEET WERE REQUESTED TO GO TO THE CAFETERIA AND ANSWER THE QUESTION.  THE FIRST 25 RECEIVED T-SHIRTS.
  3. STUDENTS BEGAN THE NOVEL, THE GIVER..... MANY EYEBROWS RAISED AS TO A TRUE UTOPIAN SOCIETY- IS IT UTOPIA OR DYSTOPIA?

  5. STUDENTS RECORDED THEIR RESPONSES TO THE QUESTION- "WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF BEING ASSIGNED YOUR JOB AT THE AGE OF 12 IN A UTOPIAN SOCIETY AS DEPICTED IN THE NOVEL, THE GIVER?
