  1. A novel coronavirus was first identified in Saudi Arabia in June, 2012, now known as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus or MERS-CoV. Since the onset of the outbreak, the WHO has been following the progress of the disease closely.  We talked to Tony Mounts, a member of the WHO MERS-CoV Research Group, about their recent paper "State of Knowledge and Data Gaps of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in Humans" published in PLOS Currents: Outbreaks.
