Flaws in prediction of presence of "beneficial" microbes from sequence

  1. So - I re-looked at a paper that came out pretty recently on communities of microbes found in ambulances.
  2. And, well, one part of the abstract struck me as really really unlikely to be true. "While the vast majority of microbial species classified were beneficial". How I asked myself could they determine that any species in their samples were in fact beneficial. So I took to Twitter. And I posted a link and a comment and then asked the senior author for response.
