#FlashbackFridays Week 1: Bernard Wright

Every Friday I plan to explore some of my favorite jams and the samples that they used to make them

  1. The Sample: Spinnin' - Bernard Wright

  2. Wright's horn riff and guitar/piano loop at 1:27 is the bit sampled in Skee-Lo's classic "I Wish." That loop is carried throughout the song with the horn riff breaking up the choruses. This entire track is full of funky goodness, including an extended piano solo at the end.
  3. The Classic: Skee-Lo - I Wish

  4. Skee-Lo - I Wish (Official Video)
  5. So that loop we mentioned before is slowed down for this track as you can hear. It was produced by Radio DJ Walter "Kandor" Kahn who passed away in 2013.
  6. I mean this is a classic right? I wish I was a little bit taller...
  7. The Refresh: Wizard Sleeve - Get Down Tonight

  8. WIZARD SLEEVE - GET DOWN TONIGHT (THE WIZARD'S TAKE TO THE STREETS OF LONDON!)
  9. These guys are good friends of mine. @MikeBeatz and @WizardSleeveLex are two of the most creative guys I know in the music industry today and they actually went Gold in the UK with their remix to "Riverside" with Sidney Sampson.
  10. Make sure to check out next week's installment! Have a suggestion for a track or a sample to cover? Tweet @nickcicero or leave a comment here!
