This week at Donalda School ... November 27 - December 1

Quality Education in a Caring Environment

  1. Greetings!
  2. I had the opportunity to travel to Saskatchewan this weekend for an extended family Christmas. With students practicing the Christmas concert, snow on the ground, December looming near, and Christmas celebrations beginning, I can feel my excitement for this season building.
  3. We have a busy week this week. Reports cards go out on Tuesday. Parents have two ways of accessing report cards, online and print. For the first reporting term, we will send a printed version of the report card with each student. In the long run, we would like move to the online version, but we will take this process slow. I would appreciate it if you tried accessing the online version for this term. Next week, I will put a survey link into the newsletter asking about the online version. See below for a complete list of instruction for accessing the online report card.
  4. For the most part, the report cards are the same format as last year. The only significant change has been with the Grade 7/8/9 report. We have adjusted the reporting scale so it is a five point scale, which is the same as the K-6 report card. Last year, the K-6 report card had a five point scale while the Grade 7/8/9 report card used a four point scale. Parents and teachers found this discrepancy somewhat confusing, so we corrected this.
  5. Parent teacher interviews will be on Wednesday night from 3:30 pm - 8:00 pm. In general, the elementary teachers have scheduled interviews and the Grade 5-9 teachers had drop-ins. If you are unsure what your children's teacher is planning for interviews, please contact them.
  6. Basketball continues on Tuesday after school from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm. We had a great first practice and there seems to be a lot of excitement.
  7. Book Fair will be this week. Students will be able to purchase items from the book fair during lunch recess and during their library classes. We will also have the book fair open on Wednesday after school during parent teacher interviews.
  8. Reminder: No school on Friday. It is a professional day for staff.
  9. Check out the website and monthly calendars for more information. Have a great week!
