This week at Donalda School ... May 15 - 19

Quality Education in a Caring Environment

  1. Greetings!
  2. I hope all the mothers felt loved and appreciated today. In many cases, moms play a lead role in their children's education and we sure appreciate how much you do around the school.
  3. May is always an interesting time of year for me. I feel like I have part of my brain thinking about this year and all the important things happening now, and the other half of my brain busy planning for next year. I have been working on how the grade 7/8/9 students Stettler options will work with principals from Stettler, Erskine and Big Valley. It looks like these students will travel to Stettler on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the first semester (September - January). The county students will be blended into option classes with Stettler junior high students. With this system, Donalda students would have more choice in what option class they take.
  4. By participating in the Stettler options next year, the Donalda School bell schedule would have to change. We would need to have the first class began at 8:30 am instead of 8:50 am, so junior high students could arrive in Stettler for their option classes. Below, I have attached a draft of a possible schedule for next year. I encourage you to take a look and please email me any feedback. We will also discuss it at the School Council meeting on Thursday at 3:15 pm.
  5. We are looking for volunteers for the K-3 and 4-6 track meets in Big Valley. If you are willing to help out please contact Alison in the office. We would like to send our lists to organizers by the middle of the week.
  6. Drama practices continue this week for the grade 4-6 students. They will practice on Monday and Thursday after school. The stage looks amazing. The backdrops look spectacular and the new risers are great addition to the drama program.
  7. On Thursday, we will be having Hot Lunch and School Council will be at 3:15 pm in the library.
  8. Start Right continues on Monday and Wednesday this week during the normal times.
  9. Have a great week! Mark Siemens
