This week at Donalda School ... May 1 - 5

Quality Education in a Caring Environment

  1. Greetings Donalda School community,
  2. Our student teacher, Mr. Brown, finished his last day with us on Friday. We really enjoyed having Mr. Brown at our school. Besides our four kindergarten students, Mr. Brown taught everyone else in the school and I know that the students had a great time learning with him. At the Fun Friday activities, we gave Mr. Brown a royal send off. Long Live the King!
  3. Mental Health Week is an annual national event that takes place during the first week in May to encourage people from all walks of life to learn, talk, reflect and engage with others on all issues relating to mental health. 5-C has been hard at work planning activities to teach everyone at Donalda School what mental health is and how we can all take care of our own mental health. As the Family School Liaison Worker at Donalda School talking about and promoting good mental health is something that is extremely important to me. All the ideas above are easy things to do with your child to promote good mental health! If you have any questions or would like more information please feel free to contact me at the school. Deanna Bartlett & 5-C
  4. A big thanks to Mr. Seale and Miss Muzyka for their work as they organized the Fun Friday activities for April. They ran a medieval festival and the tribes competed to win the King's favour.
  5. As some of you have noticed, there is a part-time teaching job posting on Clearview's website for Donalda School. Mrs. Andersson and myself will both be teaching here next year but we will be reducing our teaching loads next year. I am looking forward to beginning my Master's studies through the University of Calgary this summer and I decided to reduce my teaching commitments while I work through this program. Hopefully, we will know who our new staff member will be by the end of May.
  6. Monday is bus driver appreciation day. I encourage everyone to thank the bus drivers and let them know how appreciated they are. We are very fortunate at Donalda School to have two reliable and caring people bringing the students here every day.
  7. Grade 4-6 students have drama practice after school on Monday from 3:30 - 5 pm.
  8. Badminton players have a big week. They practice on Tuesday after school and then they are off to CARA on Wednesday. Last week, we had 14 students compete in the Castor tournament. A special congratulations to Sarah for finishing second in the grade 7 girls singles draw.
  9. On May 3rd, we will have our Start Right (playschool) and kindergarten registration day. If you have children in these groups and they will be attending Donalda School next year, please stop by and register them. This helps us in our planning for next year.
