This week at Donalda School ... June 26-30

Quality Education in a Caring Environment

  1. Greetings!
  2. We are down to the final four days of school and I am sure everyone is getting excited about summer holidays. Despite the warm weather and the final countdown, I have been impressed with how hard students are working these days. A big congratulation needs to go out to the grade 6 students. They studied hard and wrote Provincial Achievement Tests last week. I know that they are all excited to have those tests completed.
  3. The kindergarten students finished their school year on Friday and had a very nice celebration with friends and family. A big thanks to Kerry Petersen, Sheila Norman and Alison Norman for their work with these students. With your help, these students are off to a great start!
  4. To encourage our students to keep reading over the break, Donalda School is running a Summer Literacy Contest. Instead of logging reading minutes this summer, take pictures or videos of your child reading or writing during your vacation time and either post them to Twitter with the #donsch hashtag, or email them to Mrs. Andersson or myself. We will post them all to Twitter as they arrive, and we will be drawing names of students who participate for prizes. The more pictures you send, the more times your name is in the draw! We will also award prizes to the students with the MOST UNIQUE or UNUSUAL literacy picture. Get creative and pack books with you wherever you go! Contest Starts July 1st and ends September 4th.
  5. Report Card Pick up will be on June 30th from 1 pm - 3 pm. If you are unable to pick it up during this time, we will send the report card home in the mail.
  6. The Donalda School Parents' Society will be hosting a free BBQ for all students on Thursday at lunch. After lunch, parents are welcome to join us for the annual Airband competition. The competition will begin around 1 pm. I think that we are all excited to see what the parents put together this year!
  7. For the Grade 7/8/9 students, the final exam/ PAT schedule is: Monday - Social Studies, Tuesday - Language Arts, Wednesday - Mathematics, and Thursday - Science. If you are able to exempt an exam, we as that you arrive at school by 11:00 am.
  8. I hope you have a great week and a wonderful summer!
