This week at Donalda School ... June 12 -16

Quality Education in a Caring Environment

  1. Greetings Donalda Community!
  2. We are entering the midpoint of June and I just shake my head at how fast the year is flying by. I can tell you that students are working incredibly hard these days. The junior high students are juggling some fun yearend activities, such as track and field and camping, while they prepare for final exams. It is truly a fun and sometimes hectic time of year.
  3. Last week, the grade 5-9s went to Deer Valley Meadows for their yearend camping trip. This is always one of my favourite activities during the year and I think that the students would agree that it is a highlight for them as well. This year students did the following activities on the camping trip: fire building, ziplining, wall climbing, and archery.
  4. On Thursday, we took the grade 3-6 students out to Botha to play a soccer game against the Botha Bulls and the Brownfield Bobcats. The games were all very competitive and I was very impressed with how the grade 3/4 team were able to compete against an older Brownfield team. The highlight of the day was the grade 5/6 game between Donalda and Botha with the BODO cup on the line. In the past, Botha would destroy the Donalda teams. This year, Botha needed overtime and 3 rounds of penalty kicks to beat the Donalda Screaming Eagles.
  5. This week, students will be competing in track and field. The grade 7/8/9 students will compete on Monday at Stettler. On Wednesday, K-3 students will be travelling to Big Valley for track and field. Lastly, the grade 4-6 students will compete in Big Valley on Thursday. Please make sure that students bring a water bottle, sunscreen and mosquito spray. With the uncertain weather forecast, please make sure that your child (ren) has appropriate clothing for both sun and rain.
  6. On Tuesday, the Donalda School Council will be providing a free pizza lunch for all students. Thanks Parents!
  7. On Friday, the grade 1-4 students are off to Wetaskiwin for their yearend field trip.
  8. Please stay informed by checking out all the latest information on the Donalda School Website.
  9. Cheers, Mark Siemens
