  1. Greetings Donalda School community!
  2. I must start by congratulating the grade 7/8/9 students on a job well done. I have an entirely new level of respect for the amount of work it takes to pull off a drama production. I found learning forty lines challenging - let alone one hundred forty lines. A special thanks to Mrs. Andersson for all the work she put in to make it happen. Thanks to everyone who came out and cheered on these fantastic young people. There will be a clean up and cast party after school on Monday from 3:30 - 5pm.
  3. On Wednesday, we will be taking all the Gr. 1-9 students to a Shaun Boothe concert at the Stettler Elementary School. We will be travelling by bus. Through hip - hop music, he will be sharing with the students about 'what does it mean to be a hero?' According to Shaun, "we can find everyday heroes just about everywhere – in fact every one of us has a hero within!" Check out the links below for more information. A special thanks to the County of Stettler for organizing this event.
  4. Live Your Legacy (promo video)
  5. On May 4 at 7 pm, Jody Carrington will be presenting at the Wm. E. Hay gymnasium in Stettler and it is a free event for parents. If you have never heard her present, I highly recommend you attend. She will inspire you (and give you some tools) to be a better parent. For more information, follow the link below.
  6. Badminton continues this week. Junior high badminton players practice on Tuesday after school and they are off to Castor on Wednesday. I know that they are itching to play some games. Good luck.
  7. The Donalda School / Parent Society bottle drive will be happening on Friday. We are hoping for a bit nicer weather for the event. If you have any bottles to donate, you can drop them off in the Echoglen trailer at the school or canvassers will pick them up on Friday between 3:30 - 5:00 pm. We are always very appreciative of the support we receive from these events.
  8. There seems like a lot is happening this week. If we weren't busy enough, the grade 8 girls are hosting a Donalda Junior High Dance on Friday after the bottle drive. The doors will open at 6:30 pm and we will end the dance at 9:30 pm. This dance is open to grade 5-9 students. Admission will be $5.
  9. Mental Health Week is from May 1st to 5th. If you would like to watch Inside Out in Stettler on May 5th at the Jewel Theatre, there is a free matinee being offered. See the link below for more details.
  10. On Thursday, the Heartland Youth Centre is running an internet safety workshop for parents. I believe that children, especially teens, need parents to help them navigate the online world. You may find this evening helpful.
  11. I encourage you to check out the website for all the latest information. Alison is doing a great job of keeping it up to date and all the most important information on the spotlight on the homepage. Have a great week!
