  1. Amanda Knox, famously known for being convicted of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher, while studying abroad in Italy, was the subject of a new documentary this year. Amanda Knox premiered on Netflix on September 29, 2016.
  2. After being arrested in November of 2007, found guilty in December of 2009, appealing and being acquitted in October of 2011, Knox was finally able to go home to the United States. In 2013, a retrial took place, but Knox was again found not guilty in 2015. Nine years after her original arrest, she is still being tried in the court of public opinion.
  3. When it was first announced that Amanda Knox would be the subject of a Netflix original documentary, the internet went wild.
  4. The reactions from the public were just as mixed before the Netflix documentary was released as they were after. Some people have shifted sides, others are even more steadfast in their previously held beliefs. It was also a common perception that the creators of the documentary were biased towards Knox.
  5. Many people were quick to point out the sexism and slut-shaming that polluted the case.
