YoCo Dates Photos with the Ottawa Jewish Archives, Part 3: Cyanotypes

The Bytown Museum Youth Council recently hosted guest speaker, Saara Mortensen, archivist from the Ottawa Jewish Archives to learn about the history of photography and techniques for determining the age of a photo.

  1. Cyanotypes, discovered by Sir John Herschel in 1842, produces a "Prussian Blue" print. This process, used until the 1950s, eventually developed into the modern day blueprint.
