The morning after

Southern Californians awoke this morning to learn the final outcome of 11 questions put before voters Tuesday. Their reactions to voters' stand on ballot measures are a mix of relief and frustration.

  1. Prop. 30 was THE ballot measure to watch for many. Gov. Jerry Brown's measure to raise money for schools overcame a what had  anti-tax sentiment, much to the relief of some in SoCal.

  2. Even with Prop. 30 passing 54 percent to 46 percent, debate continues over whether the measure is the right move for California.
  3. Those who supported Prop. 30 are pleased with voters rejection of Prop. 32, which would have banned the way union's traditionally money for political campaigns.
  4. Meanwhile, SoCal voters have little to say this morning about the defeat of Prop. 38, a competing tax-for-education measure supported by Pasadena-area businesswoman Molly Munger.
  5. When it came to public safety measures, voters decided to keep California's death penalty but overturn its three-strikes law. 
  6. Supporters of Prop. 35, which toughens penalties in human trafficking cases, are celebrating the measure's landslide victory.
