Beyond #FF -- meet the people I like on Twitter

I don't get much out of #FF tweets. It seems like an empty recommendation, because I can't see anything about the person being touted. So I built this story to showcase the tweets of people I like on Twitter.

  1. Penelope Trunk, writer, speaker, mom

I interviewed Penelope Trunk once, and asked her how long she spends on a tweet. An embarrassingly long time, she replied. How long? I persisted. Could be 45 minutes, she admitted. It shows. She is a Dorothy Parker type: World-weary, sophisticated wordsmithing, laced with an attractive streak of self-effacing humor.
  2. Liz Cole, @productive cough, L.A. wit

I'm not really sure where I discovered this person. She is disarmingly funny with an abrupt, caustic wit. She has fewer than 500 followers. So you can say, "I followed her before most people had even heard of her..."

  4. Corey Dade, NPR

This D.C.-based "former newspaper dude" is an undiscovered star on Twitter, with fewer than 1,500 followers. I like his confident, likable commentary.

  6. Cynthia Collins, digi/social marketeer

She rocks multi-media historical trivia, entertainment and sports. She's like the host of a little social media variety show for smart people.

  8. Robin Sloan, writer and "media inventor."

Robin doesn't need my love. He's got 260K+ Twitter followers. Yet his tweets are one of the things I love on the internet, to riff off his recent epiphany
