James Grant, a criminal law professor at Johannesburg’s University of the Witwatersrand, tweeted: "State can appeal legal errors. Arguably a legal error to restrict dolus eventualis to Reeva when it's irrelevant who was behind the door."

- And more from Conway-Smith:Sentencing will take a little while — possibly 10 days to two weeks. It will begin on Oct. 13. After that the state may decide post-sentencing to appeal, if they feel the judge erred in the law by throwing out the murder charge. Pistorius has bail under the same conditions as before and will continue living with his uncle Arnold in Pretoria as he has been doing for the past 18 months.
