The Social Media Job Hunt

Augmenting your job search using social media.

  1. Today's job seeker must network and become more creative now, more than ever before.  Social Media can be a great tool to find a job. It is important to establish yourself online on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn

The article below shows how you can use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tumblr to network and promote yourself.
  2. You can also click on the following article to see an example of using Pinterest to create a "living resume."
  3. One other thing to check out is this documentary called 'Generation Jobless', which is a bit long at 45 minutes, but I recommend you watch the first half if you don't have time to watch all of it. It is very worth the watch, as it explains how globalization, automation and the focus on companies bottom line is forcing outsourcing and computers are replacing jobs at a steady rate. In the documentary there is a prediction that by the year 2030 half of all jobs will transition or disappear as new automation takes over. Check out the documentary here:

I wanted to write my final blog post for this class about the job hunt and how it's changing today, because I work in Co-op and Career Services at Kwantlen. If anyone needs resume tips, interview advice, or if you want to join Co-op and get some relevant paid work experience to put on your resume, please do not hesitate to ask me and I will help you out or put you in contact with a colleague that can assist you.

Some colleagues at work are using this social networking site called Yammer. Has anyone used Yammer at work before and if so, did you find it useful?

    Thanks for reading!
