IPS Superintendent Lewis Ferebee hosts Twitter chat

Tuesday night Indianapolis Public Schools held a Twitter chart to seek input from the community. Within an hour nearly 500 tweets were posted. Superintendent Lewis Ferebee, Colts player Dwayne Allen, Nine13 Inc., an IPS commissioner, and others posed questions. Here's some of what was said:

  1. Ferebee asked for advice. The Twitter chat is part of his ongoing "listening tour" that includes public forums and workshops. A work session is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Southeast Community Service Center's Senior Citizen Center. The final forum is 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at University of Indianapolis' Schwitzer Center.
  2. The inclusion of Colts tight end Dwayne Allen attracted a buzz in the hours before the chat.
  3. Members of the IPS School Board took part in the conversation, including President Annie Roof, Gayle Cosby and Caitlin Hannon.
  4. Superintendent Ferebee interacted directly with many who posed questions to him or offered suggestions. Ferebee has become one of the most visible Indianapolis educators on social media since his arrival last fall.
