The race for Mayor in Detroit is starting to heat up. After an exploratory period of months involving more than 70 community meetings, Mike Duggan has officially announced he’s running for Mayor of the City of Detroit. Here's a sampling of the social web.
Duggan, a former Wayne County Prosecutor who quit his job as Detroit Medical Center CEO at the end of 2012 to focus on running for mayor, has been visiting Detroit homes and doing interviews over the past several months after announcing 'in September he was exploring a run .
Mike Duggan kicked off his bid to become Detroit's next mayor tonight as several hundred supporters packed an east-side gym for the formal announcement. "We're going to make a commitment to an administration where every neighborhood has a future," Duggan told the enthusiastic and diverse crowd at the Samaritan Center on Conner near I-94.
