1. The bloody, live streamed shooting of Alton Sterling, a black man, by white cops in Baton Rouge, LA, last Tuesday shocks a nation that should be beyond shock by now.
  2. A suburban Minnesota police officer shoots and kills a black motorist.
  3. On Thursday, a sniper in Dallas, who is black, kills five police officers, wounds seven others, as well as two civilians. The shooter is killed by police remotely by robot.
  4. Meanwhile, the shootings and killings continue in Chicago every day.
  5. There are many nuances in the cases I mention above that I am leaving out because many aren't (fully) known yet. What is clear is that way too many Americans die by gunfire by each others' hands, every single day. Or in this case, a single weekend.
  6. I follow #blacklivesmatter activist @deray on twitter. His coverage from the ground at confrontations with police has garnered him fame on and off twitter. Last night, while protesting police brutality in Baton Rouge, LA, @deray was arrested. He even streamed his arrest via perisocope.
  7. As of this writing, Sunday, July 10, 1:30 pm PDT, @deray's twitter account has been silent for 18 hours.
  8. I scour twitter for clues on his fate, trying to ignore the vile hate speech of those who wish the absolute worst upon this remarkable black activist.
  9. Witnessing @deray's arrest, along with the hate speech, spawned one of my Sunday Morning Twitter Rants, which I may have to make a tradition, with the way things are going.

  10. Disclaimer:
For those looking to make this tweet stream into a gun control debate, please take a seat. OF COURSE less access to guns would be less lethal. Yet history shows there are many implements of deadly force. Who really believes that hatred in America will stop the minute all the guns are safely locked up and out of reach of those with murderous intent and/or insufficient training?

No, this tweet stream isn't about gun control. It is about HOW TO CONFRONT HATE. If you know how to do that successfully, I want to hear from you, because I need you. We all need you. America needs you. If we cannot figure out how to stop hating our fellow Americans, even making all the guns disappear by magic won't stop the killing of our fellow citizens.
