#CreativeMoCo Tweetup at @FillmoreSS, 2/22/2012

On February 22, 2012, the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (@creativemoco) hosted their first-ever tweetup for creatives in and around Montgomery County, MD. It was hosted in the Vertigo Lounge at The Fillmore Silver Spring in Silver Spring, MD.

  2. Once people arrived, the energy was palpable: lots of conversation between friends, old and new.
  3. Attendees were encouraged to put down their phones and engage with others in the room. We set up a "Tweets in Real Life" board and asked: What makes Montgomery County creative? Our crowd "tweeted in real life" by writing their answers on sticky notes and posting them on the board.

  5. After an hour or so of mingling, our CEO Suzan Jenkins gave an inspiring talk about the importance of advocacy for the arts and humanities. She also deputized those in the room to think of themselves as cultural evangelists!
  6. After the tweetup, attendees went upstairs to catch that night's show at The Fillmore Silver Spring: The Pink Floyd Experience.
  7. Attendees left the Fillmore Silver Spring feeling connected with their local community -- and wanting more!
