  1. The Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom (CPBF) hosted a public debate on Creating a movement for a Better Media in the UK after the formal business of our AGM on Saturday 1 July 2017.
  2. Once the business meeting was over discussion quickly moved onto how best to respond to Murdoch's latest attempt to own 100% of Sky.
  3. With the latest consultation end on Friday 14 July, the Media Reform Coalition are hosting an urgent media reform meeting to take place at 4pm in the Keynes Library, 43 Gordon Square, London WC1H 0PD, TODAY Monday 10th July.
  4. We we're then joined by three great speakers:
  5. Hazel Healy (@hazel_healy) from New Internationalist shared the story of how they raised over £700,000 of investment from over 3000 people in over 42 countries in biggest media community share offer in history.
  6. Richard Wilson from Stop Funding Hate, launched less than a year ago in August 2016, explained they've now had over 25 million views of their facebook videos and have raised over £100,000 in donations.
  7. Thomas Barlow from Real Media shared the lessons learned from their UK tour last year, the launch of The Media Fund - a co-op set-up to support independent media - and the success of first Independent Media Conference.
  8. The discussion about how to create a Better Media the UK so desperately and urgently needs then continued with lots of impassioned debate.
