U.S. women's hockey team wins Olympic gold

The United States has defeated Canada 3-2 to win the gold medal in women’s hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

  1. According to The Associated Press, the United States' Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson scored in round six of a tie-breaker shootout – the first in the history of Olympic women's hockey – to clinch the win.
  2. The score was 2-2 before the shootout. Hilary Knight and Monique Lamoureux scored goals during regulation play, and Amanda Kessel, Gigi Marvin and Jocelyn Lamoureux scored in the shootout.

    The last time the U.S. won an Olympic gold medal in women's hockey was 1998.
