  2. Trump had endorsed former Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, the Republican who lost to Moore in the September primary runoff. But Trump later supported Moore, urging voters to back the candidate even after Moore faced multiple sexual misconduct allegations.

    After Democrat Doug Jones defeated Moore on Tuesday night, Trump congratulated him on Twitter.

    "Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory," Trump tweeted. "The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!"
