Cheers, jeers online after South Carolina House OKs removing Confederate flag
The South Carolina House of Representatives early Thursday approved a bill removing the Confederate flag from the Capitol grounds, just weeks after nine people – including a state senator – were killed at a historically black church in Charleston.
Not backing down. Republican SC state Rep. Michael A. Pitts denied he is trying to kill the confederate flag removal bill, says "I am for taking that flag down if it hearts the heart of people like you (meaning black people)," but says "I want my heritage respected too." #SCFlagDebate
