The victim was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center for medical treatment. The victim was alert and conscious at the scene while communicating with deputies.

    Richmond County sheriff's deputies at Paine College Monday afternoon.
  3. The Augusta ABC affiliate, WJBF, reports Sergeant Michael McDaniel, with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, says at least one person was shot inside a building on Paine College's campus. He also says officials are not sure, at this time, if this shooting incident is related to gunfire on the campus that happened Sunday.

  5. SHERIFF’S OFFICE STATEMENT

    On today’s date at approximately 1300 hours, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at Paine College, located 1235 15th Street, Augusta, GA. Upon arrival, Deputies met with several witnesses and one victim who sustained a non-life threatening injury. The victim was transported to Georgia Regents University Hospital for medical treatment. The victim was alert and conscious at the scene while communicating with Deputies.


    Paine College is currently on lockdown. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division, Crime Suppression Team, Georgia State Patrol along with Paine College’s Campus Police are currently working together to clear the entire campus.

    We are asking the Public to stand clear of the 1200 block of 15th Street for safety.

Most of the college's buildings, including residence halls, classroom buildings, and the library, are located in the main campus area. The athletic field, gymnasium, tennis court, and the chapel/music building are included in the rear campus area.
