The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are visiting Colombia and Mexico from 28th October - 5th November. Their Royal Highnesses' visit to both countries is at the request of the British Government, following invitations from President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón of Colombia and President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico.


  2. On their last day in Mexico, The Duchess of Cornwall got a taste of home by hopping on a London Bus.
  3. The day began with a briefing at the Ambassadors Residence on military cooperation projects between the UK and Mexico. Their Royal Highnesses then headed to Monterrey.
  4. Monterrey is the capital and largest city of the northeastern state of Nuevo Leon in the country of Mexico. The city is anchor to the third-largest metropolitan area in Mexico and is ranked as the ninth-largest city in the Nation.
  5. Today The Prince and The Duchess headed straight to the Parque Fundidora where they received a formal welcome to the State of Monterrey. They viewed an outdoor exhibition of photographs showcasing the highlights of Nuevo Leon and saw some lively traditional dancing.

  7. The Royal Couple then sampled some Mexican cuisine at a market showcasing regional specialities.
  8. Space exploration was on the cards for The Prince, with a visit to Planetarium ALFA.
  9. HRH joined a conversation about social entrepreneurship and met conference members and young competition entrants. The Prince presented an award for the most innovative idea of the conference.
  10. Before departing Mexico, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall opened the new joint British and Canadian Consulate General.

  13. The Prince of Wales travelled to Campeche today to continue the Royal Visit to Mexico. His Royal Highness was to visit the Edzna Archaeological site. The Duchess of Cornwall did not join The Prince of Wales today as she was suffering from a sinus problem.
  14. The site is one of the most important Maya archaeological sites in Mexico.
  15. The main temple is remarkable and has five storeys. After being forgotten the site was discovered in 1907 and excavations began. It is now a major tourist attraction. Today The Prince met members of the local Maya community and archaeologists.
