  1. In case you have been living in Antarctica and missed the news, it has been 100 days since Donald Trump took office. How is he doing? Public opinion polls put the president's approval rating around 44%, a historic low in modern times. In New York City, where Trump received 18.6% of the 2.7 million votes cast, one might expect the approval rating to be somewhat lower. But we went to find out. On the eve of the president's hundred-day anniversary, NY City Lens reporters fanned out across the city to ask New Yorkers for their assessment of his job performance so far: Thumbs up, thumbs down, or somewhere in the middle?
  2. Sebastian Arteta | Washington Heights | Filmmaker/Theatrical Actor
Trump has ushered in the apocalypse. When the planet is frying and we're using sunblock 3000, we're all going wonder how did this happen and it's all going to point to this moment in time when this short-fingered vulgarian invaded office. If he wanted to win me over, he'd have to resign and admit that he's been in bed with the Russians forever, but he'll never do that. The world thinks we're a joke, our reputation in the world has gone to shit. • In preparation for Trump's 100th day in office tomorrow, the NY City Lens reporting team spoke with New Yorkers to collect opinions of how he's been doing and how he can improve in the next hundred days. #nycitylens

  6. Irka Mateo, 58, Bay Ridge - Brooklyn. "It's like going back to medieval times, this is awful. A total nightmare. We are at a point where we need love and peace. We are citizens of the world regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality. Our current administration is representing the 1%, but the 99% are looking to fulfill their dreams too. I'm really concerned about what will happen to Planned Parenthood and our education system because everything is changing for the worse. I didn't think we would have to face this temporary setback in order to advance the peace and ecological movements. This is the antithesis of progress." #nycitylens #cjs17 #first100days #100days

I feel he's doing what's in his interests for him as an individual and his friends. I'm not affiliated with any political party. I'm for the people." The system "is like the Hydra the Greek monster. You get a different head, same body."
Lide: "I coach a lot of foreign upper middle class, wealthy kids. Their parents think he's a joke. Their laughing at the fact the system could even elect someone like him."
Montillo: "It's an amazing amount of money, coming from the taxpayers, to run the security in Trump Tower...The way he talks on TV is so robotic. Like 'this is a beautiful chocolate cake."
Lide: "Like when he was bombing Syrian, 'beautiful babies.' I feel like he's trolling us.
Montillo: He's a troll president. I feel like he's having fun with it and he's just doing this for his own agenda and not for the people. Not that other presidents haven't., but he's doing it an a worse way."

  8. Blanca Ayala, 68 | Washington Heights | Retired
Someone might shoot his ass, you know? He tryin' to take all these immigrants outta here when they just tryin' to build a better life. I'm all by myself in Washington Heights, I'm almost 70 years old. If he kicks me out, where am I gonna go? From here, I got one step left – From a funeral parlor to a hole in the ground. He's making trouble with Russia and those people get mad! We might go to sleep one day and never wake up. I don't like nothing he's doin', he's cutting everything; I don't know where this nation's gonna go. • In preparation for Trump's 100th day in office tomorrow, the NY City Lens reporting team spoke with New Yorkers to collect opinions of how he's been doing and how he can improve in the next hundred days. #nycitylens

  9. Mr. Steve Hann, 63, has been selling books in the streets of the #UWS for 15 years. He has some negative thoughts about the first #100Days of Donald #Trump’s presidency, he says: “You couldn’t write a political thriller like this one. Don’t like the way he frightens people; he picks fights; he treats the government as his business partner.” Still, this veteran from the Vietnam war -who published a book on poetry- admits “He is the first president that is doing exactly what he promised. Wether he is being successful its another story.” Asked if he would give Trump any advise, he declares Harry S. Truman once said “You don’t want me as your leader. You want the president.” #CJS17 #NYCityLens

  11. Mikey D., 65, Bay Ridge - Brooklyn. "100 days is no term for a president, nonetheless enough time to judge a president's progress. Give him another 900 days, or 10,000 days, and see what he can do. I will admit I like his aggressive stance on all topics and his obscure news tactics. Like his tweets, I think those are real cute. But I'm still undecided on how I feel about it so far, good or bad. Time is necessary." #100days #first100days #cjs17 #nycitylens

"Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad – He created jobs, he talks real things. He tries to make sure everything is working, he took out criminal immigrants; not everyone, just the criminals. I will be a citizen a year from now, the country's better now. I hope he [makes] more jobs for the people, better salary – rent is so expensive." • In preparation for Trump's 100th day in office tomorrow, the NY City Lens reporting team spoke with New Yorkers to collect opinions of how he's been doing and how he can improve in the next hundred days. #nycitylens

He's not part of those characters we call congressmen who are all under the control of lobbyists. If he turns out to be a banana then in 4 years we can throw him out. 19. Yuri Fedorov, 48 | Washington Heights | Russian Language Translator/Photographer
I voted for him because I wanted to see a change in foreign relations. I'm not for him or against him, I'm just lookin' at what he's doing. The whole thing with the ban on refugees and immigrants, I disagreed with how he did it. If he really wants to protect the country from the threat of terrorism, he should've included Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He has to learn more about how the government works and constitutional law so he can figure out what the hell he can and can't authorize. • In preparation for Trump's 100th day in office tomorrow, the NY City Lens reporting team spoke with New Yorkers to collect opinions of how he's been doing and how he can improve in the next hundred days. #nycitylens
