Day One: Social Media and Community conference 2015, Brighton

The first UK CASE Europe Social Media and Community Conference kicked off on 30 April with the sun shining on us in Brighton.

  1. Co-chairs Liz Allen and Steven den Boer welcomed the 75 delegates to the conference...
  2. Andy Shaindlin opened the conference, giving us some history of digital communications and how it changed the conversation.
  3. Fitting for the beach location, we were encouraged to ride the wave, not the board - or in other words, you dont need a social media strategy, you need a communications strategy that includes social media.
  4. Next up - Tracy Playle and Rowena Boddington took us through creating and implementing a social media strategy case study at Imperial College Business School.
  5. Meanwhile, co-chair Elizabeth Allen took delegates through social media 101
  6. The Student Room and Hubbub joined CASE Europe to deliver some fantastic showcase sessions. Duncan Knox from Hubbub talked through the importance of crowdfunding, and The Student Room led a panel session on using their product to engage with potential students...
  7. Pamela Agar talked us through how to effectively integrate your social media efforts across your institution or school, and get that activity to work harder!
  8. The parallel session was led by Dave Musson, who explained how to measure your social media activity and engagement, and work out your return on investment.
