  2. The event began three weeks earlier when each school received a copy of this year's story, The Magic Hockey Stick. It has become a tradition over the past 5 years for members of the Hamilton Bulldogs to digitally read the story to our students and this year was no exception. This is a very important piece of the experience for students as it makes the connections between athletics, literacy, and communication. In this role, the hockey players are mentors and role models - celebrating and promoting the power of literacy with our students.
