Things to do in 2014 (What to do in 2014)

What to do in 2014? What to do next year? What to do with my life? These are some of the most common questions asked on Google. For many people there seems to be very little prospect of anything changing in their life, whilst for other people they can easily shift their focus in another direction.

  1. At the beginning of the year I started a blog about arranging various parties in London after covering over 1000 events with my band. It is one of the most enjoyable things that I did during 2013 because it is always a challenge to step outside of your comfort zone and be creative, especially when the work will be published on the internet which can be a very hostile environment. However, it can also be very complementary when people enjoy your work and leave nice comments. The point here is that you will never get to find out until you make a decision and start doing something. Risk & Reward. For 2014, start something which takes you outside of your comfort zone, but something that you are passionate about.
  2. The next thing that I would like to do is to set up a foundation to help people; talented students and graduates. This is a much greater challenge, but something which I have been thinking about for a long time. Youth unemployment is very high and over 40% of graduates are doing jobs which really do not require anything more than a simple aptitude test and an ability to speak English. After years of dedicated studying and lots of money spent on an advanced education, some receive a half hour induction, a uniform and end up doing a basic job on a minimum wage. It is time to start a conversation with graduates and the people who can offer better prospects. The data in this report below is alarming.
  3. It is amazing that these problems exist in a world where social media has created a revolution which enables people to reach out and connect like never before.
  4. There is no revolutionary solution to solving the problems faced by students and graduates, but a graduate hub or hangar with a dedicated team of industry professionals will create an excellent resource for students to tap into. Face to face talks is an improvement on internet social networking. This is my challenge for 2014; to create the blueprint for this initiative and attract the right level of support to get it up and sprinting as quickly as possible. 5. Everything starts with an idea and people become inspired by the success of other entrepreneurial individuals, but nothing changes until you take the first step.
