Our Thoroughly Terrific Thursday!

Here's a look at our most wonderful day!

  1. It's hard to believe that the first full week of school is almost over. What an amazing week it's been! It's fantastic to see the students working together, supporting each other, and demonstrating literacy and math skills, problem solving skills, and even self-regulation all within the context of play. The photographs and videos below really highlight the learning both outside and inside the classroom today. We had a very special learning opportunity this morning that involved various students from ELP 1 and ELP 2. You can see a separate blog post about this learning here -  https://mrscrockett.commons.hwdsb.on.ca/2017/09/14/the-berry-picking-expedition-a-joint-elp-1-and-elp-2-adventure/ . There's definitely a connection to First Nations and visual arts, and we're excited to see how this learning might evolve in the coming days. There are lots of great opportunities here to explore nature as an artistic medium, while also allowing for problem solving during turn taking experiences.
