Big names hit second day of SXSW

Saturday brought out celebrities, a well-received South by Southwest Interactive keynote speaker in Baratunde Thurston, a sighting of Jared Leto and lots of buzz for Joss Whedon and his new horror film, "Cabin in the Woods."

  1. The rain continued throughout the day, only letting up for periods of mist before it would come down again. Some parking garages closer to the Austin Convention Center began driving up prices, as shuttles not packed with festival-goers were sometimes hard to come by.
  2. Jared Leto was seen roaming around the Sheraton and he even dropped in a panel about building celebrity brands.
  3. Joss Whedon, who premiered his new film "Cabin in the Woods" last night at the Paramount Theatre, was on a panel Saturday. It filled up quickly, with some having to watch outside from a television screen.
  4. Meanwhile outside, if you didn't have an umbrella, GroupMe's rain poncho were becoming a hot commodity.
  5. Thurston's keynote packed the main exhibit hall, with many having to head to ballrooms or watch a live cast remotely. Thurston was funny, inspiring and drew plenty of applause.
  6. "The View form Inside Rainn Wilson's Brainstem," featuring, of course, Rainn Wilson, was another popular panel.
  7. A web celebrity of sorts was @reallyvirtual, or Sohaib Athar, who unknowingly at the time tweeted about the Osama Bin Laden raid in Pakistan. His panel touched on how he went from average citizen to journalist.
