World Day Against the Death Penalty 2012

10 October is World Day against the Death Penalty. The death penalty is the ultimate denial of human rights. It is the premeditated and cold-blooded killing of a human being by the state in the name of justice.

  3. Since the first World Day against the Death Penalty 10 years ago, 17 countries have abolished the death penalty - only 21 countries have actually carried out executions. 

  4. On World Day against the Death Penalty, ADPAN is calling on all governments that carry out executions to establish a moratorium on its use.
  5. Killers, murderers, terrorists, drug lords. Who cares if they are faced with death, right?  Amnesty International South Korea reminds us all to challenge the notion of "an eye for an eye".
