The Hoodie Becomes Culture War Flashpoint

Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, was fatally shot Feb. 26 in a gated community in Florida. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt at the time of the shooting, which has led lawmakers, celebrities and and private citizens to weigh in, many while wearing the piece of clothing.

  5. Celebrities took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the death of Trayvon Martin, including P. Diddy, Chaka Khan and others. The entire Miami Heat team also posted a picture of the team in hoodies on LeBron James' twitter account, linked below. 
  6. As of March 27, Change.org had reached over two million signatures in their petition to arrest George Zimmerman, a self-appointed neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Fla.
