The 2012 NFL season, the 93rd regular season of the National Football League, is set to begin Wednesday, September 5, 2012, and will end with Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

Here are some of the legitimate ways to watch NFL games beyond those available on over-the-air broadcasts and basic cable:

•Many games are offered through the NFL Network channel. You can order this from your cable or satellite provider. This channel carries all the preseason games, weekly season games and hosts the popular show, NFL Total Access. It also includes “NFL Replay,” which offers the five best games of the week.

•For a free but legitimate viewing option, check out Hulu‘s NFL page online. You can watch past games, highlights and interviews. Just look under your favorite team’s name or in the Game of the Week section.

The production from opposing running backs against the Eagles defense from games six through 16 was also respectable. Running backs averaged a similar amount of carries (22.4) for far fewer yards (89.7). The Eagles yielded 4.6 receptions for 37.9 receiving yards and .5 total touchdowns per game to opposing backs.

With the additions of first-round defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and former Houston Texans middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans, the Eagles should be better equipped personnel-wise to stop the run. The team will also have a second year of experience in defensive coordinator Juan Castillo’s scheme.

And the schedule is a dream scenario for a defense looking to bottle up ball-carriers.

Philadelphia will be tested early against the likes of Cleveland's Trent Richardson and the Ravens Ray Rice. The Eagles have a date with Cam Newton’s Panthers (with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart) in Week 12 as well.

But aside from the aforementioned matchups, Dallas' DeMarco Murray is by far the most-talented runner the Eagles will face this season.

I understand that San Fran might have a slightly better defense than some preseason schmucks, but with Aaron Rodgers I don’t think that will matter come Sunday.

I lay down inarguable points about the 49ers being better than Green Bay, and all you can come at me with is something about the long snapper? That’s it?

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2012 Green Bay Packers!

And seriously, I realize Aaron Rodgers racked up video game numbers against a bunch of subpar defenses in the regular season last year, but he didn’t face the 49ers’ indomitable D.

Green Bay certainly won’t be able to run on Patrick Willis and Co., and once the Packers are in obvious passing situations Aldon Smith will do what he does best and harass the living Favre out of your boy Rodgers.

For your all’s sake – since you are part owners and all – I just hope Rodgers makes it out of this game alive.

CHRIS: The thing with the running game is that we don’t need to actually rack up yardage in order to win.

Fujita was barred from Cleveland's training facility this week, but he stayed in town and worked out on his own at nearby Baldwin Wallace University in the event the suspension was lifted. Fujita, who serves on the NFLPA's executive committee, had expressed confidence he would be on the field in Week 1.

Hargrove, docked eight games, was released last month by Green Bay and is not currently with a team.

The appeals panel consisted of retired federal Judge Fern Smith of San Francisco, retired federal Judge Richard Howell of New York, and Georgetown professor James Oldham. It met in New York last week to hear arguments from the NFL Players Association, which appealed Burbank's ruling that Goodell had the authority to hear and rule on the players' appeals of their suspensions. NFL attorneys had asked the panel to affirm Burbank's ruling, but the panel sided in large part with the union.

The decision likely means that consolidated federal lawsuits brought against the NFL by Vilma and the NFLPA on behalf of the other three players are likely on hold until Goodell reissues punishment. It also spared U.S. District Judge Ginger Berrigan from having to decide before Sunday on a temporary restraining order requested by the players.
