A Life Filled With Remarkable People ....

  1. I've said this before, but all I've asked out of a life in writing is to meeting interesting people, go to interesting places and to see interesting things. I should probably have asked it for a bit more money, too, but at least I've been blessed to get the rest. Sometimes, when I'm tired and depressed, I lose sight of that, but honestly, I've been witness to rather a lot of amazing things in my life, and had the honor of telling people about them. Sometimes the experience is sublime, sometimes ridiculous, but I'm always amazed at the people who cross my path, and what they manage to achieve.
  2. Here are a few things from friends around the country which have made me extraordinarily happy, that I probably won't be able to get to in any journalistic sense anytime soon:

My old OC Weekly colleague Anthony Pignataro making a very offbeat adult video ...
  3. My comrade in poetry Scott Woods giving a lecture on Stephen King’s Magical Negroes in Ohio.
  4. The always amazing Rachel McKibbens and Jacob Rakovan have opened the most incredible sounding restaurant in Rochester, and I seriously need to go see it for myself:
  5. And while Worcester's Tony Brown reading a poem in public is hardly an unusual occurrence, this video of him doing so at George's Coney Island Hot Dogs is delightful!

  7. Sometimes, I can remember it's an amazing world, and I've been very, very blessed to know some of the people I know.

  9. Here's a few more entries into the most-recent Great Cover Song Challenge! As always, I'm amazed and a little terrified by what these musicians come up with when working with dubious material ...
