Tackling discrimination in football – with Brendon Batson & Troy Townsend

On Thursday 15 October, University of Nottingham Sport were delighted to welcome ex-West Brom footballer Brendon Batson and Troy Townsend, Kick It Out, for a conversion about racism and discrimination in football.

  1. @UoNResearch attended to live-tweet the event. Both speakers spoke candidly about personal experiences of discrimination in and out of the game, which was often shocking to hear. We also heard about what should be done to improve the game for everyone, regardless of race, sexuality or any other factors, so read highlights and comments from the public below.
  2. Sam Bell-Minogue, Assistant Director of Sport (Participation) hosted and introduced both speakers. Brendon Batson is currently a Professional Footballers' Association trustee and adviser to the FA, and Troy Townsend is Education and Development Manager with Kick It Out.
