Celebrating Donald Shoup and Robin Liggett

The Department of Urban Planning paid tribute to two retiring faculty members Saturday, May 30 — Robin Liggett and renowned "parking guru" Donald Shoup. The event took place at a fitting location, atop Parking Lot 32 in Westwood, and guests enjoyed skyline views and a host of fun activities.


  1. The celebration marked the end of a fundraising campaign for the Donald and Pat Shoup Endowed Fellowship in Urban Planning, which raised more than $220,000 for future students studying transportation. You can learn more about Professor Shoup's legacy here.
  2. A set of parklets gave guests a place to relax and take in the scene
  3. Guests could ride around the lot on a seven-seater bicycle
  4. Even Shoup's four-legged fans were in attendance
